I like change.
I know, that goes against how most people feel, but I really like change. I like the changes in weather and I like the changes in seasons and most of all, I like the changes in myself.
So, here are some of MY changes:
1. I recently got on the scale and realized I’ve lost 10 pounds since the start of 2013! While we all wish for more, I’m pretty satisfied. Every time I’ve lost weight quirky, it all comes back, and then some. So I’ll take this. However, this change happened due to a few lifestyle changes: no soda, minimal snacking, no eating anywhere but at the table, no eating after 6pm. But hey, no real exercise, either! (I have to admit, this is really bad to say, but it’s the truth and I cannot lie: I HATE exercising. I just cannot like it.) But the weather will be changing soon and I’ll be back on my bike soon enough.
2. I’ve changed the design of my blog. I found a new theme/template, have added a few extras, moved things around and updated some things. Of course it could still use some updates/changes, so feel free to make suggestions. I’m all ears, or eyes, as the case might be.
3. I’ve had a change of focus. Now, don’t panic, but this year I will be doing more marketing and probably dialing back on the writing so much. His Jilted Bride was my 10th book. That’s a nice-sized backlist, and there are people every day who are just now finding me. To me this seems strange since I’ve been “here” for two years now, but it’s the truth. So in order to spend more time with my family and make those past books work more for me, I’ll be spending more time marketing them than I have in the past. So this change comes with some good things and the very obvious “bad” thing to some of you who can zip through a book in a matter of hours. I still intend to write and I’m still planning for there to be a book in April, then to start the next series this summer. But I’m going to try to be more social and interactive. Here are my “changes” by category:
~Facebook–If you don’t already know this, I have an author page over there. In the past, I’ve used it very infrequently and only to send out notices of important events such as new books and sales. I’m going to *try* to overcome my fear of social media and implement a few new features that include interaction. Should be interesting to say the least!
~Goodreads–Before I go further, I must make a real idiot of myself and admit that until about two years ago, I didn’t even know this site existed. Still, after two years, I rarely ever use it and don’t know half of what goes on at that site. But, lucky me, I know someone who does! Not only that, just this morning she has graciously set up a group dedicated to those who like my books. Please feel free to come join. I do admit, I don’t know everything that having such a group is capable of, but come on over to discuss my past books, ask questions about new ones, create polls and trivia questions, be on the look out for new and exclusive blurbs or opportunities for giveaways and early reads, and so much more! You can find it all right here: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/96169-rose-gordon-fans
~Group Chats–I’ve been playing with the idea of this for a while now and I’ve finally decided to “go with it” and host a group chat. The first one will be on Tuesday March 5, at 7PM CST. That’s in a week from tomorrow night! I’ll be sure to post links for it just as soon as I get one final detail worked out.
And that one final detail is… I’m looking for 4-5 volunteers who can “meet” me at a designated time to try this out. If you’re interested, please email me.
